Volunteer Opportunities

There are many different volunteer opportunities in the fire service.

Here at Parkside Fire Company we have many different classifications of membership. 

 

Active Firefighter - A member that responds to all calls for fire, medical / EMS, or any other dispatched events. Active firefighters also make their required meetings and company functions. These members must complete the National Fire 1 class with-in the first 2 years.

 

Active Fire Police - For those that do not want to fight fire but still wish to help keep our members safe at calls we have fire police. Fire police are active members that respond to calls strictly to secure the scene doing traffic and or crowd control. These members must attend a minimum of 16 hours of training for Basic Fire Police and Hazardous Materials Awareness.

 

Active Member Non-Fire - An active non-fire member is an active member that does not participate in interior firefighting however assist at the scene with equipment and exterior operations.

 

Apprentice Members (Junior / Cadet) - An apprentice Member is a member between the ages of 14 - 18 years old. An apprentice member must abide by all child labor laws and the company rules for Junior/Cadet members. 

 

Contributing Member  - A Contributing Member is a member that helps with fundraising, administrative roles, and on different committees. These members also help at different fire company functions such as tag day, community day, and much more.

 

All Volunteers must complete a criminal and Child Abuse Background check prior to being accepted into the company.
